GROUP STAGE
Eight
groups of four teams play a "Round Robin" to determine progress
to the Knock-out Stage.
The two top teams from each group will
progress to the Knock-out Stage.
The progress from the Round Robin
is determined on the following basis:
Points
are awarded: 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw.
The
ranking of teams in the groups shall be determined as follows:
a)
Greater number of points obtained in all group matches
b)
Goal difference in all group matches
c)
Greater number of goals in all group matches
If
two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above criteria, their
place in the group shall be determined as follows:
d)
Greater number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams
concerned.
e)
Goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams
concerned.
f)
Greater number of goals scored in the group matches between the two teams.
g) Highest team conduct score relating to yellow
and red cards. (see FIFA Tournament for details)
h) Drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee
